Hi, and welcome to my site! It’s a blog about personal finance and careers, told through the lens of my search for happiness and mindfulness in life. Why those things? Well, because most people view them as a necessarily evil to use in their pursuit of happiness in life… and I think they can be more than that!

I was disappointed to see that ours was the only house on the street with an orange shirt hanging in the window yesterday. For those who don’t live in Canada, or who do live in Canada but have been living under a rock, yesterday was the first National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a federal statutory holiday that was created to honour both the lost children and survivors of residential schools.

For many of us who work desk jobs, the world of work is about to change. Many who have been working from home full-time will be transitioning to a new hybrid work environment, where we work some days in the office, and others at home. I love fall. I love the temperature outside, the changing colours, and the foods and flavours that it brings with it (pumpkin for the win).  It hasn’t really felt like it in my neck of the woods, but fall really is just around the corner. I always like to put out a few fall decorations and touches around the house to welcome the season. To that end, here are some of my favourite fall décor ideas I’ve seen so far.

Kicking the bucket is not a topic many of us like to think or talk about. There have been a number of serious health scares in my family recently though, and it’s forced me to think about planning for when it’s time to go. One of the most important elements of that plan is having a will. It may seem like no biggie, but it is. Here are a few reasons why it’s so important to have one.

I'm out of commission enjoying some much-needed time at the cottage this week, so check back next Friday for my next post!
